Mrs. Touch Paet and her husband, Mr. Choem Khat, are subsistence farmers in Prey Changva Village in Kampong Speu Province. They have five children, three of whom are construction workers while the remaining two are attending school. Although the family members have different business activities, they still cannot improve their living conditions. Mrs. Touch Paet and her husband want to start an ice-cream selling business which is likely to do well since Cambodia is hot. Thus, Mrs. Touch Paet has decided to request a loan to buy a motorbike with a freezer for her husband to sell ice-cream door-to-door. Last year, one of Mrs. Touch Paet’s children got dengue fever and she spent $175 on medical bills to cure. The additional expense hurt the family budget. Her husband is on the right of the photo.
