Dionisia belongs to the Aleli Village Bank. She lives with her husband, is 33 and has five children. She and her husband have a joiner’s workshop at home in the Olives association. They do all sorts of furniture according to their clients’ requests, but they especially produce cages for livestock farming. Then they sell their products in the San Juan market on Sundays.

Dionisa needs a 1000 soles ($US350) loan to purchase wood.

She dreams about expanding her shop, equipping it with more machines and improving her house.

Entrepreneur: Dionisia

Dionisia used her Kiva loan to buy more materials for her family’s carpentry shop, namely wood, nails and mesh. She says her business has been steadily growing bit by bit. When she started working with FINCA three years ago, she and her husband were making simple wood boxes. Thanks to FINCA, Dionisia was able to buy the materials and equipment she needed, and today she and her husband have a much larger workshop equipped with machinery to make furniture and animal cages (mostly for guinea pigs and chickens). Dionisia says she likes FINCA’s group training/education sessions, especially when they cover business administration.

Dionisia is thinking about expanding her business even more, She and her husband are thinking about opening up another workshop in Huanta, a nearby district. Dionisia and three of her children would stay in Ayacucho to run the business, while her husband and her two other children would go to Huanta to launch the new business.

Dionisia has also been able to save part of her income, thanks to FINCA, and is hoping to use her savings to make some home improvements.
