Paulina is the leader of a group of five women. She is 32 years old and married with 3 children, ages 5 months, 10 years, and 14 years. Her two eldest children are in school, the youngest is an infant. She lives in an urban community which is highly susceptible to floods during the rainy season.

Paulina has been selling shoes in the market near her home six days a week, Monday through Saturday for the past five years. Her market for shoes is fair. The biggest challenge is few customers. She has been able to augment her shoe business by also selling soda, water, and passion fruit.

Paulina plans on using this loan to increase her stock of shoes and drinks. She hopes to one day be able to buy a plot and build a house.

Paulina has successfully paid back 10 loans.

JOURNAL Entrepreneur: Paulina Nantongo`s Group Location: Kampala, Uganda Pauline sells second hand shoes to make a leaving She used the loan she received from MCDT to increase on her stock the only problem she faces in her business is that of lack of customers in a particular season She chose this particular type of business because it was easy for her to start and also she makes enough profits out of it. Since joining MCDT she has managed to expand on her business she has also managed to buy additional items for sell to increase on income. Pauline has also been able to build saving for herself All her children are at school she is also able to meet the basic needs of her family Pauline hopes to continue expanding on her business she also wants to buy a plot and build a house for her family.
