Nansubuga Pamela is a 27-year-old married mother of two children, a three-year-old and a 9-month-old. She lives and works in Mpererwe, a neighborhood near the outskirts of Kampala. She has a shop called Amoti’s Cosmetics where she sells hair relaxer, foundation, lipsticks, lotions, wigs and other beauty products. She travels to downtown Kampala to get the products she sells in her shop and works seven days a week. The weekends are her busiest time. To get to work requires her to take two minibus taxis, and she finds transportation a challenge.
Although she had worked in cosmetics for a while, it was only after she got her first loan from MCDT in 2004 that she was encouraged to start her own business. Since then, she has had six loans and reports that she has been able to develop her business solely because of the capital that they provide. Currently, she rents the space that she is using and her goal is to buy a plot of land to build a business near her home.

On a resent visit to Pamela by a loans officer, she found Pamela doing well in her business. Pamela used the loan she received from MCDT to increase on the stock she has she also used part of it to pay school fees for her children.

The problem Pamela faces in her business is that her clients normally take her goods on credit and refuse to pay. She also complains of price fluctuations when she purchasing her goods. The reason why she decided on this business is because she had the experience in selling cosmetics.

Since joining MCDT Pamela has to expand on her business she has also been able to make some saving for feature use.

She has also managed to put up a house for staying in so she no longer rents .and also added some assets to her house

Pamela hopes to build her own shop and stop renting because she finds rent so expensive

She wants her family to lead a better life so she plans to give them good education
