The Deme Group is made up of four women from Lafiala neighborhood of the town of Koutiala, who have known each other for years. They are 33 years old, on average, are married, and have at least 3 children.

In the interest of growing their businesses, these women became members of the micro-credit program SORO YIRIWASO two years ago. The amount of their loans has risen from US$ 120 for the first loan to the present sum of $240. They have varied businesses (sales of firewood, local cold drinks, take-out food sales, etc.) This loan will be used to purchase a truckload of firewood, sacks of sugar, 2 sacks of “fonio” (a West-African grain), and a considerable amount of ingredients for take-out food.

As they are very experienced in their fields, the products created by the women from the Deme Group are esteemed in the town of Kotiala. With the present loan, they expect to be able to generate a profit of US$ 180 on average. This profit will be used to make payments on the loan and to cover daily living expenses for their families.

In future, the Deme Group intends to have an individual loan of US$ 600 apiece so as to further expand their businesses.
