Mrs. Teresa Quinteros García is a member of the communal bank "Mujeres Luchadoras" (Fighting Women) and she lives in the San Martín region of the San Martín province in Tarapoto. She dedicates herself to what she loves to do: cooking. She sells food and typical dishes of the region such as juanes, chicken soup, etc. She waits on her customers at a sales stand in Market #3 in the Huayco neighborhood.

She began with a little cart selling juanes, a typical food of the region and chicken soup, selling door-to-door to her neighbors and friends. She is a hard-working, optimistic and persevering woman, who never stops until she reaches her goal. She set herself toward acquiring a food stand in the market so she could rest a little from her walks, continue to earn money, and provide her children with a good education.

With this loan for $525, which she will repay in 6 months, she will buy ingredients such as sacks of rice, pounds of chicken, gallons of oil, and cartons of eggs that she needs to create the various plates of food that she offers to her customers everyday. She will also purchase bundles of wood as that is an important element for cooking her meals and gives an original flavor to her dishes. Additionally, she will buy utensils such as pots, ladles, spoons, bowls that she needs to serve her customers.

Teresa is 57 years old. She is a decided woman, enthusiastic, and with a humility that demonstrates her desire to get ahead by having a business out of her own home. Teresa considers herself a fighting woman because she does not rest until she achieves her planned objectives to live an old age free of worry and care.

Teresa is 65 years-old and lives with her children who are still students. She has a food stand in the local market where she sells traditional dishes. With the loan she received, she bought the supplies that she needed to keep her business running such as rice, flour and cooking oil. After paying the loan in its entirety, Teresa decided to retire from her communal bank. She is now working with her own capital. Nonetheless, she is thankful for the loan as this was an important source of support for her.
