Loan Update

Entrepreneur: Mek Sim
Location: Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia

Mek Sim, 50, lives with her husband and five children in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. Mek is a tailor, and her husband is a motorcycle-taxi driver. At the time they applied for a loan, they both earned around $2 a day. Mek requested a loan so so could raise chickens and pigs, and so she could purchase a water pump.

A CREDIT MFI loan officer recently visited Mek to check on her progress. After receiving her loan, Mek started a new business of raising chickens. With the increased profits from her business, Mek spends more on the family and reinvests in her chicken business. Mek said she would like to continue to expand her chicken business in the future.

When asked, Mek said she was thankful to CREDIT for its low interest rates and good service, and to Kiva lenders for supporting her loan.
