Nisar-ul Haq has recently returned with his family from Pakistan. He has made a relatively advanced fabric store--with glass front and door--in a newly built shopping mall in eastern Jalalabad City. The entrepreneur’s family invested $10,000 into the business initially. Most of the funds went into building this modern-looking store. Aditionally, Nisar has leased a basement for tailoring and has hired 12 workers.

Prior to receiving the loan, Nisar’s business went well but he used to purchase material on credit from the suppliers on higher prices. This way of business did not yield the best profit he had expected. With the Kiva loan, thankfully, he is now able to purchase a sizeable portion of material in cash for very reasonable prices. The loan fund has made a big difference in his venture he says. Now he is making around 200 dollars more per month as opposed to when he worked on credit.

In addition to selling fabric, Nisar's business has a fabric pressing service. His store is one of the few places that has modern pressing equipments in Jalalabad City. Most f his pressing customers are tailors who bring the inner layers of the dress suits and vests for pressing process before finishing them. He charges 300 to 400 Afghani on every press and makes more than 50 dollars on that side every day.

Nisar says his business is going very well. He sucessfuly paid his first repayment on time recently. He hopes that in less than one year he will be able to purchase all the matrial in cash and be able to expand his business into a large tailoring factory and an attractive fabric store.
