We are excited to watch this business grow. Over the next 6 months, Esperanza International, a partner of HOPE International will be collecting repayments from this entrepreneur and posting progress updates on the Kiva website.

Dominga used her Kiva loan to purchase hair supplies and make-up that she sells from her house located in “Batey 35.” A batey is a rural community of barrack style housing provided by sugar cane growers. These communities have very limited resources and are (often) completely surrounded by sugar cane fields. Despite being located in a rural community with limited resources Dominga is doing exceptionally well.

She must travel an hour and a half every two weeks to another city called “La Romana” to buy her products in bulk, but enjoys her job. Dominga hopes that in the future she can keep expanding her business, and hopes to add more beauty merchandise to her store.
