Majidan Irshad Ali's Group

Majidan baji is married to Irshad Ali, who is 59 years old. (Baji is a term meaning "elder sister" in Urdu.) Shamim and her family live in a small city called Arifwala in Pakistan. Shamim owns a two room brick house, and she is a mother of three children: two sons and one daughter. Majida’s daughter is in 10th standard, and her sons work as property dealers. Her husband is a wedding organizer, and has been in this profession for the last 7 years. She is applying for a loan for her husband’s business, so that he will be able to buy attractive materials which look nice for occasions like weddings.

She has been joined in her group by a few more members who are: Zahida baji, who wants loan for her decorative embroidery business; Khalida baji, who wants a loan for her grocery shop business; Abida baji, who wants a loan for her vegetable business; and Irshad baji, who wants a loan for her cardboard business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
