Veng Chaysokchan is 26 years old and lives with her family in the Siem Reap province of Cambodia. She sells soft drinks by the roadside from a large cooler earning US$5 a day. Her husband works as a motorbike mechanic and gets a lot of business each day. His income averages about US$8 a day. The young couple has two children who are still too young to attend school. Veng has several business plans for the future. She needs a loan to be able to purchase mechanic tools to help her husband in his business, as well as a plot of land to sell later once prices go up. Veng expects a rise in land prices, since the volume of tourism in the province is growing at an exponential rate.
