The Committee of Entrepreneuring Women is a program carried out by Fundación Paraguaya which targets groups of enterprising women who create a village bank through which they receive assistance in terms of loans. The main goal is to give them the opportunity to carry out economic activities which enable them to live in dignity and contribute to a better quality of life in their homes. Lending to poor women creates a cascading effect that brings social and economic benefits to a whole family, and thus to the entire community. What is more, the sense of belonging to a group gives these poor women the energy and motivation to reach success.
The Comite Primavera (Spring Group) is today in its sixth cycle. All the members of the group are very responsible and punctual with their payments.
Among the businesses these ladies run are: sewing shops, grocery stores, milk sales, fruits, vegetables, drinks, clothing, cheese and others. The money provided by the credit will be used to purchase sugar, rice, fruits, vegetables, drinks and fabrics.
About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
