Sakina M.aslam's Group

Sakina is 40 years old, and is married to M.Aslam, who is 50 years old. She resides in a two room brick house in the city of Kasur, Pakistan. Her son, named Amir, is 23 years old and has a cloth embroidering business. She has applied for a loan of $800 to help her son's business. Sakina has been joined in her loan group by a few more businesswomen: Zareena wants a loan for her gentlemen's shoe business; Sakina wants a loan to expand her grocery shop; Sharifan wants a loan to buy a computer for her academy. This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
