Mambo from Mbeya, Tanzania and from SELFINA! Thank you for your loan through Kiva to Sifa Lameck, a SELFINA client and micro-entrepreneur. The purpose of this journal is to update you on Sifa and the status of her business.

As you know, your generosity helped Sifa obtain a loan of $425 in June 2008. She is running a salon business and used the loan to purchase, a hair dryer, cosmetics, and plastic chairs for her salon. She works at her business for 9 hours per day, 7 days per week. She is assisted by two employees at her business.

Since she took out the loan, her business has been doing well and Sifa’s monthly profits have increased from about $90 to approximately $130. She has used these extra profits to successfully repay her loan as well as paying water and

electricity bills, and better food for her family.

In the future, she is planning to request a loan of $1000 from SELFINA with which she plans start a new business of crops. On the personal front, her family is doing well. She is married and has one child. Sifa dreams about being able to continue to send her child to school. SELFINA aims to continue to assist Sifa and other women like her, and empower them towards financial security and increased confidence through microloans. Thank you very much for supporting Sifa!
