Kumri Orifova

Thank you for your loan. It has been disbursed to Kumri Orifova by International MicroLoan Fund (IMON) in Tajikistan. We are excited to watch this business grow. Kumri works in a busy sewing factory near the central market in Isfara, Tajikistan. The factory sews men's and women's national outfits, in addition to uniforms for several local factories. She used her Kiva loan to purchase another sewing machine, which has had a great impact on her business.

The sewing factory is a family-run cooperative. Kumri and one of her sisters both took out loans at the same time, which allowed them to increase their sewing machine inventory from 1 to 3. This has allowed them to make products faster and fill more orders than in the past. Before they could only sew 10 uniforms a day, but now they make up to 50.

She and her family would like to put all of the profits back into the business, in order to hire more employees and possibly start a second shop in another city. They currently work with around 40 blind weavers who produce the fabric that they use to make their products. They hope that their continued success will allow them to support more disabled people in their community and help to build a stronger country.

Kumri is married and has three children, who are all studying at the university.
