Ly Sy is a rice farmer in Kampong Cham province. She has been working the same land since 1980 and knows her homeland well. She is very smart when it comes to her time and the seasons; during the rainy season she keeps tools for fishing to supplement her income. Between fishing and farming she earns about $4.50 per day. Her husband farms even while she is fishing and earns an additional two dollars per day.

They have six children (a normal amount for a farming family) and one is married. Two of the older children help support the family working in a garment factory. They each make $40 per month.

Loan Update Entrepreneur: Ly Sy Location: Kampong Cham, Cambodia Ly Sy lives with her husband and six children in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. Ly is a farmer, and her husband fishes. Ly requested this loan so she could buy a boat for her husband and fertilizer for her fields. A CREDIT MFI loan officer recently visited Ly to check on her progress. After receiving her loan, Ly bought a boat that her husband uses when fishing, and fertilizer for her fields. She said that her income has increased because her husband can catch more fish with the new boat. In the future, Ly said she wants to buy a bigger boat for her husband so he can catch even more fish. She would also like to buy a few extra plots of land so she can expand her farming. When asked, Ly said she was thankful to CREDIT for its good service, and to Kiva lenders for supporting her loan.
