Makalita has been raised in a farming family. Although she was the only girl in her family, her father never treated her separately from her brothers. She was trained by her father with some farming skills. But as she grew up, she realized that her brothers had better skills than her in running the farm. She then asked her brothers to help her grow taros so she can run a taro plantation. Her three brothers have always helped their sister with her every need. She’s now married with 5 children, still running her taro plantation and selling fruit. She hopes to be able to provide her children with a better education rather than the farming skills that she had been taught by her father.
