Celia del Pilar Vidales Ruiz is forty-four years old, married and has two adult sons who now live in their own homes. Celia lives near downtown Pucallpa, the bustling jungle capital of the Ucayali department in Peru. Celia is a founding member of the Manuela Ramos communal bank named Women Dreamers; she started the group with several friends and acquaintances of hers four years ago. What Celia likes most about Manuela Ramos is the workshops and training conferences they offer to their members. Celia says that she attends every single event that she can because she is interested in learning how to better her business and her relationships with her family and fellow bank members.

Celia’s business is selling fresh orange juice from the stand pictured above every morning from six to eleven a.m. She opened this business with the help of her loans over one year ago. Before she started making and selling juice, Celia sold beauty products, clothing and shoes. Celia still continues in these ventures and, additionally(!), this busy woman also makes and sells chocolates.

Currently Celia is gearing up for selling chocolates and sweets during the Christmas holiday. Her eventual goal is to open a full scale juice shop where she can offer several different types of juices. She used her most recent Kiva loan to purchase juice glasses and glass display cases.
