Nayigu Grace is the chairperson of Baligenwa women’s group in Jinja. She prepares local brew known as “malwa” for sale using millet that is fried on a large metallic tray, milled, mixed with water, and after a few days, it’s ready. She is 42 years old and married with 7 children, and also cares for 1 grandchild.

The group has been together for 6 years and all members agree that with the loans, life has improved a lot and this has enabled them to send their children to school. Grace would like a loan to expand her business by buying more millet since she is now able to sell 4 jerry cans of malwa in a day at $6, yet other customers enjoy the drink at her home where she has constructed shelter for them. Customers come with their jerry cans and her job is to fill them.

Nayigu Grace can never think about changing her business because it’s paying for her. Overtime, she has been able to keep most of her loyal customers since the loans help her to always remain in business plus enabling her to pay fees for her children. With the loan, she is able to have enough high quality brew that keeps on attracting more to her side. She is a contented woman and only prays that God rewards all those enabling her succeed.
