Mrs. Pheourn Phuong is the Village Bank President of Preak Tanop II which consists of 27 members in Kandal Province. She is a Khmer cake maker in the local village and is now requesting a loan to buy pigs in order to start a pig breeding business. The rest of the money she will use to build a piggery in the back yard.
Mrs. Pheourn Phuong is 48 and the mother of two children, one of whom is a Khmer cake vendor in the village while the other is attending school. Her husband, Mr. Suon Chan, is currently unemployed, but will operate the new business. Last year, he suffered from lung disease on which he spent $500 for treatment. Unfortunately, Mr. Suon Chan is ill again, so the family faces additional expenses for medical care.
