Mr. Sam Vai is 46 and the father of eight children, two of whom are construction workers while another three are enrolled in school. One another helps mother on the field and the two remaining are too young to work or study. His wife, Mrs. Soklon Kheng, is a subsistence farmer. Previously, Mr. Sam Vai had obtained a loan from Amret Co., Ltd to buy fertilizer and hire a laborer to plow on his field. In the last three months, Mr. Sam Vai’s child got tuberculosis and he had to be sent to hospital. Mr. Sam Vai spent $150 for his treatment.
