Prossy Nanyanzi is the chairperson of Lugazi Kweyamba Women, a group that was set up four years ago. She has a retail shop selling soda, juice and mineral water in Namawojjolo, a highway gathering place for selling roasted meat and chicken to passengers on the Kampala-Jinja road. She employs boys and girls to run around to the various stopping vehicles to increase profits, now that the price of soda has increased. She is a married woman with four children and also takes care of her sister’s child. All of the children are still in primary school. Her dream is to own a much bigger shop with more soda, mineral water and juice so that she can employ more people, since the more people you have, the more you earn with this kind of job. The group is really thankful for the loans from Kiva.

Journal Entrepreneur: Lugazi Kweyamba Women's Group Location: Lugazi, Uganda When I went to visit Prossy Nanyanzi in her Lugazi Kweyamba women’s group, they were signing up for another loan from Pearl Microfinance yet they are still paying back with Kiva meaning that the loan that was disbursed to them worked for them to accomplish their plans. For Prossy, she says that she has been able to increase the volume of what she sells in her shop for her customers in the moving vehicles hence making more money compared to when she has less to sell. She says that getting another loan means getting more drinks for sale hence more profits to be used to provide for her family.
