The Committee of Entrepreneuring women is a program carried out by Fundación Paraguaya which targets groups of enterprising women who create a village bank through which they receive assistance in terms of loans. The main goal is to give them the opportunity to carry out economic activities which enable them to live in dignity and contribute to a better quality of life in their homes. Lending to poor women creates a cascading effect that brings social and economic benefits to a whole family, and thus to the entire community. What is more, the sense of belonging to a group gives these poor women, as members of a Committee, the energy and motivation to reach success.

Raquel, a woman who belonged previously to a Committee of Entrepreneuring women invited her friends to form a new one. They set up a meeting and invited many women from the town. There Raquel shared with these women their previous experience in the Committee and explained to them how the Committee changed her life. Raquel’s hopeful words stimulated optimism among these women and they decided to form a Committee.

Porficia Martinez sells coal, Raquel Insfran sells jewelry, Diana Gonzalez and Patricia Mendoza own a hair salon, Limpia Nunez sells cleaning products, Justa Ruiz is a cook, Agustina Gomez makes and sells chipas, Sonia Mongay, Rossana Bernal and Agueda Sosa sell cosmetics, Francisca Caniza owns a grocery store, Blanca Rodriguez and Dora Achar sell food, Graciela Lopez sells silver products, and Angela Martinez sells natural remedies.

The credit provided will be used for the purchase of sugar, drinks, milk, cheese, cleaning products, flour, eggs, hair accessories, cosmetics, etc.
