Silvano Chaparro

Silvano Chaparro is a single, 53-year-old man who has two sons living in Spain. Paraguayans tend to emigrate from Paraguay to countries such as Spain and Argentina in order to generate more income than they can in Paraguay. According to such people, there is no other solution than to migrate to other countries because they cannot find jobs in Paraguay. Consequently, remittances from those who have moved to other countries are a very important source of income to the people of Paraguay.

The need to help his parents generate more income led Silvano to start working as a child. Fifteen years ago he decided to open a despensa (grocery store) in his neighborhood, and his despensa has grown substantially over the years. In the future, Silvano plans to expand his despensa and convert it into a mini supermarket.

Silvano is now seeking a loan in order to purchase products for the despensa, including: milk, sugar, pasta, drinks and other such goods. With the additional income he expects to generate from sales as a result of the requested loan, Silvano believes that he could provide his sons with a good education and that he could build his own house.
