A large number of the participants are recycling artisans—they transform car tires into items such as planters, flip flops, mats, and vases, among others.

The group is composed of 20 hard-working women from the Almada neighborhood of the city of Caacupé. The group is currently in the 5th cycle of the Enterprising Women program. A large number of the participants are recycling artisans—they transform car tires into items such as planters, flip flops, mats, and vases, among others.

Others have traditional small grocery stores where people can buy food and household products, such as: meats, canned goods, rice, flour, sugar, and cleaning products, among others. Last, but not least, are the women who are street vendors who sell clothing and accessories for women, and others who sell cheese and manioc starch exclusively.

Their products are exhibited next to the main road that links Caacupé to the city of Tobatí and visitors like them very much. The group has participated in various fairs held in the city of Tobatí and their products were well liked by the tourists, who marveled at the ingenuity and delicate work of the artisans. This brought about good sales for their products.

The 20 women are managing an average line of credit of gs. 750,000 each. The group was created thanks to the services offered by the Fundación Paraguaya through Freddy Bordón, who is the advisor for the women’s groups in the Caacupé office. This is how he was able to bring together all the artisans of the neighborhood and form the group that bears the name “Mujeres Progresistas de Almada” (Progressive Women of Almada).
