Seng Sarem is 40 years of age. She is something of a middleman between vegetable farmers and the market vendors that sell off the crops. She purchases the vegetables in bulk from the best farmers to sell to whichever vendors offer the highest price for her high quality goods. This has the capability of being a lucrative business.

She currently earns about 38 US$ per month. Her husband shares her business and brings in another 38 US$ per month on his part. On this income, they support a family of four including their young child and her younger sister.

Seng Sarem wants to expand her business by adding both eggs and dried fish to the list of food items she can resell to the markets. These items are more expensive, but with her extensive experience dealing with market resale she should be able turn a large profit through this expansion.

Loan Update

Entrepreneur: Seng Sarem
Location: Prey Veng Province, Cambodia

Seng Sarem, 40, lives in Srey Veng, Cambodia with her two daughters and her husband. She and her husband work as resellers who buy produce from farmers and sell it to stall owners in the market. Together, they make a combined $76 a month, or a little more than $2 a day. Seng requested a loan to buy more produce to resell.

A CREDIT MFI loan officer recently visited to check on her progress. After receiving her loan, Seng purchased dried fish and eggs, which she resold to market vendors. As a result, her income has increased substantially, and she says that her standard of living is also better. She hopes her family's condition can improve even more in the future.

When asked, Seng said she recommended CREDIT to her neighbors for its good service. Seng thanked Kiva lenders for supporting her loan.
