Puna Tauese

Puna is a thirty two year old unemployed woman, married with five children. Her husband like her is also unemployed, but doing fishing apart from his wife’s business for extra earning for their extended family. With their five children that they’re raising, they are also providing support for Puna’s father, brothers and sisters that are staying together with them. All of her relatives are working in her taro plantation (starchy rootcrop which serves as staple food in Samoa, like rice in Asia or potatoes in other countries) and helping out Puna with her business so that it will become their family business in the future. They’ve planted more than seven thousand taros, and will be harvesting one thousand taros every end of the month.
