Mrs. Biakamangue Kolani, 33, is married and the mother of three children. In 1999 she opened up a little store she calls ETS DIEU N’OUBLIE PERSONNE where she sells everyday necessities in the neighborhood of Agoè. Her first loan in the amount of US$ 1100 allowed her to purchase the goods she retails in sufficient quantity to avoid going back and forth a lot to the Central Market in Lomé. She was also able to avoid buying on credit which used to cut into her profit.

Since her turnover has now increased and in view of the needs of her clientele, she would like to request another loan of US$ 1100 to purchase 10 sacks of rice, 10 tins of vegetable oil, and seven sacks of sugar.

General Store Succeeds Despite Family Illness

Entrepreneur: Biakamangue Kolani
Location: Agoe, Togo

Madame KOLANI received her loan of $1100 in April 2008. She used this second loan to buy various food items to restock her small general store. She has reported that, thanks to this second loan, her business is doing very well and she enjoys a greater level of confidence in herself and her abilities. Also, with her increased stock and her ability to purchase more expensive products, she has seen an increase in the affluence of her clientele.

Despite the unfortunate illness of a family member, she has continued to operate her business successfully and she has repaid the loan so far without problems.
