Annet Nakonde represents the group. She is 28 years old and married with a nine-year-old child. She also cares for a ten-year-old orphan. Annet's husband works as a chauffeur and together they have hopes that their daughter will one day be a nurse.

Annet's menswear shop is only one year old, but it is already thriving. She has recently begun to complement her retail business in Kayunga by selling some of her stock at several markets in the area. The market side of the business is proving to be more profitable and so she is seeking a loan to buy more stock. Buying in bulk from Kampala will reduce the cost of the clothes as well as of transportation. Annet will sell this new stock at various markets in the area..

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Journal Entrepreneur: Tuutuuka Group 2 Location: Kayunga, Uganda Annet Nakonde has two businesses in one. She has a shop selling men’s clothes as well as moving to the various daily markets with some of the clothes plus a few of women’s clothes that she included using profits from her business. She is so happy with the trend she is taking because she would like to be in a position where she attracts both female and male customers. She says that without the loans, she wouldn’t be this far due to lack of capital but that was a problem solved when she joined Pearl Microfinance.
