For these 11 women of Saletagaloa Salelologa on the island of Savaii, these are their first loans from SPBD. They all undertook 4 weeks of training on managing a business and maintaining a savings account, and then passed a written test on the SPBD principles: business, savings, weekly meetings, payments and group guarantee. Over the next 52 weeks, they will support each other in their individual business development and to guarantee on-time payments.

The women will use their loans for the following purposes:

Faaiviivi Fiu (54, married, 5 children) to purchase a spade, pesticides, knives, a planting stick, a filing, and a wheelbarrow for her fruit and vegetable (taro, yam, cocoa, bananas and other produce) business.
