For these 3 women of Saasaai 2 on the island of Savaii, these are their first loans from SPBD. Aussie Fogatafua, 18, is married with 1 child. She is starting a bakery business. With her loan, she will purchase cement, metal, and iron roofing to construct an oven. Also, she will purchase oil, flour, sugar, and other ingredients to make pies, biscuits, buns, and other baked goods.

Asolelei Tesi, 39, is married with 7 children. She grows taro, yams, bananas, and other vegetable and fruit produce. Although her family has been doing it for many years, this is her first business selling produce. With her loan, she will purchase a weed killer, pesticides, a filing, 2 bow knives, and fertilizer.

Teuila Lima, 46, is married with 11 children. Her sons help her farm her taro and yam plantation. With her loan, she will purchase a weed killer, pesticides, fertilizer, cabbage seeds, and a license. She will sell her produce 5 days per week.
