Mary is the mother of three children and grandmother of seven grandchildren. She has been selling maize, rice, palm nuts, bananas and charcoal for 10 years. With her loan, Mary hopes to begin buying maize and rice in larger quantities to avoid buying on credit and to guard against price inflation. In addition to using the profits of her business to expand her operations, she also wants to use the profits to begin saving for her grandchildren’s school fees.

Mary is a member of the trust group Exodus. The trust group uses peer pressure as a type of social collateral that ensures each member repays their share of the loan.

In the words of Mary Mensah “I was looking forward to increase my working capital so I could procure more goods and increase my profit. Thanks to the hands that supports low level and medium income earners. I have been able to realize this dream”. She is happy and thankful for the support. She has been able to purchase more stock of charcoal, vegetable oil and added the sale of onions. This year, she is praying for a more favorable business atmosphere, to enable her to make more profit and also be able to support her children in school.
