My name is Zahida Parween, and I have lived all my life in Lahore, Pakistan. I am married and a mother of five: three boys and two girls. Both of my daughters are married, and the boys are currently working. Unfortunately, I could not educate my children due to our impoverished conditions. I cut almost 100 bags daily out of cloth on order from a factory, which then stitches them on machines. My husband drives a horse cart, a popular means of transport here in Pakistan, but he sold his horse for our daughter’s marriage; we now need a loan to buy a new horse.

The women in my group who will share in the loan are: Sajida Bibi, who sews bags; Rubina Hanif, who will pay off the remaining installment for her business; Parween Qasim, who intends to expand the family plastic pipes manufacturing business, and Fazeelat Bibi, whose husband sells fruits.
