Ever since Annet lost her husband some years ago, life has really changed. Being the sole bread winner for her 7 children and now 2 grandchildren, Annet believes working hard is the only solution, and she is not regretting the effort. She has a 12-year-old hardware shop in Semuti, Mityana, has 7 cows at home that provide milk both for sale and home consumption, and has had a piggery for 9 years. She is grateful for the loans she has received, since she started from nowhere and now she is somewhere. Annet is 60 years old and a member of the Semuti Development Group. In all her businesses, she works with her children, who will take over while she is away.

Journal Entrepreneur: Semuti Development Group Location: Mityana, Uganda With the hard ware shop and continuous getting of loans, Annet Kiddu has been able to start up other businesses that bring in an extra income. The cows give her milk everyday hence more money as well as a healthy family and with the piggery, she sells off once she has many piglets and part on the money is spent on their feeds. This trend has enabled her to educate her children as well as improving her hardware shop but since the material for the hardware is too expensive, she keeps on getting a loan to top up with her savings and no doubt she is doing well with the loans and their repayments.
