Before Anita was selling clothing, but she likes the shoe business better because she can earn more money.

Anita Elizabeth SolSol Acosta has two jobs. During the day she runs a children’s preschool in the front room in her home. And in her free hours Anita sells sandals and shoes by catalog.

At one time Anita wanted to be a nurse, but she had to leave her studies and instead started to work with children. Anita has three children of her own and is currently encouraging them to stay in school so that one day they can have successful professional careers.

Anita works selling her shoes to her clients on credit. She shows her customers her shoe catalog, sends away for the products they order, and sets up a biweekly payment program which she administers. Anita says it’s important to sell only to clients she trusts since she must assume the burden if they do not pay their accounts. Manuela Ramos helped Anita start her business by providing her enough initial capital to purchase her customers’ wares in advance.
