Mong Pak is living in the house were she was born, in Kandal province, not far from Phnom Penh, with her 6 children. Her husband is a moto taxi, while she is selling food to the factory workers in her neighborhood. She gets up early in the morning to cook and begins selling around ten for the first break in the factories. In the afternoon, her husband brings her to the market. Four of her children are helping her in this business and the two remaining are employed in the factories. The five of them make around $5 profit out of $25 daily sale.

For her first loan with CREDIT, she is requesting a $500 loan to buy a new motorbike for her husband. She will sell the old one, which is breaking down often and costs much in reparations.

Mong Pak is a cautious person; her first concern would be to save a little money for the rainy days. She is also thinking about expanding her business with her next CREDIT loans.

Journal entries for Pak Mong

CREDIT will not give this loan out

Entrepreneur: Pak Mong
Location: Kandal Province, Cambodia

According to CREDIT loan policy, Pak Mong loan application was assessed by Mr. Sao Ra, who is Phnom Penh Branch Manager. His investigation with the local authorities came to the following conclusion: Pak Mong had already subscribed a loan with another microfinance institution.

CREDIT doesn't want to be responsible for over indebtment, and considers that giving out this loan would put Mong Pak and CREDIT in a hazardous situation.

However, CREDIT want to maintain a relationship with Mong Pak and may offer its services to Mong Pak when her situation is clarified.
