Salome is a 36-year-old married woman with two children, ages 22 and 14. She and her husband also support one other person, age 27. Salome is a vegetable seller. Every day she works from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at her business, where she earns a monthly profit of about $140.
In the past, Salome has taken out one successful loan from BRAC Tanzania to expand her business. She now hopes for a loan to buy more items for her business. She will share this loan with her subgroup members, who have small businesses selling clothes, food, and alcoholic beverages (saloon).
