Lay Sok

Mr. Sok Lay has been in construction business four years. Besides of construction, he is also a fisherman. In February 2008, he requested a loan of $1,000 to purchase additional construction tool for his business.

Lay used to be one of the construction workers for his bother. He’s tried to learn the job and got a lot of experience for many years, therefore, Lay has enough capacity to become a skillful construction constructor and start working independently. So, Lay decided to launch his own business as a construction constructor. He needed many tools for his job such as trowel, shovel, wheelbarrow, and hummer….etc.

Lay managed to buy these tools after he received the loan. He travels from one place to place many times a year due to the work. Lay is able to build a small flat, fence, bathroom…etc. He could generate about $500 to $700 from building a normal house in the village that spend at least a month. He always meets some problem with his job during rainy season because Cambodian people do not prefer to build the house during this season so he earns very little money.

The income from the business is used to pay for household expenditures and pay back the principal and interest. Lay find no problem for his installment.
