We are excited to watch this business grow. Over the next 4 months, Pearl Microfinance Limited will be collecting repayments from this entrepreneur and posting progress updates on the Kiva website.

With the ever rising food prices and transport costs, Anna Atugonza’s produce selling business would be at a stand still but because of some business training from Pearl Microfinance, she learnt the basics; and hence she has been able to cater for the extra costs by raising the prices of the produce she buys for sale. Her customers have been very understanding because they also see the situation at hand but again her produce are things you can never do without; they keep coming back to her because of her friendly nature and customer care compared to the other women in Kamwokya market. She sells green bananas, cassava, potatoes, onions and carrots. However the sell of tomatoes is becoming a problem because they are so expensive and hence for the time being, she buys few tomatoes just for keeping her customers. She is eagerly waiting for the end of the loan to ask for another from Kiva lenders.
