Nancy and Dionisia have been members of the “Aleli” community bank for four months. In that time, they have learned the importance of responsibility, punctuality, and friendship.

Nancy is 32 years old. She lives with her partner and three-year-old daughter. Nancy works with her husband driving a motorcycle taxi, doing construction work, and making furniture. They have been working in construction for five years and driving a taxi for one year.

Dionisia is 32 years old. She lives with her partner and has five children between the ages of two and ten. Like Nancy, Dionisia and her partner do construction work and make furniture. They have been working together for four years.

Nancy and Dionisia each need loans of 600 soles (3 soles = $1), which they will use to buy replacement parts for the taxi, as well as wood, nails, varnish, and paint.

One of the most important aspects of the community bank is the interest-earning savings account each associate has. Nancy and Dionisia plan to use their savings to buy a computer and to make more capital available to their businesses. Their dreams are to eventually own a home and a car, and to have a happy family.
