Namugongo(i) Group

The group leader of this small group is Christine Lubega. She is currently in the business of selling chicken feed and is requesting a loan of UGX 500,000 to expand her business. Christine is 27 years old and married to a trader. She has 2 children ranging from age 4 to 6 and her children go to school. Each week, Christine makes approximately UGX 200,000 in profits and with the extra profits from her loan, she hopes to be able to build rental houses. Christine has taken a loan from BRAC Uganda before in the amount of UGX 300,000 in order to invest in a retail shop business and the loan was paid back on time.

Christine is joined in her small group by Betty Nabagibwa, Saida Kabanda, Annet Nalule, and Jane Nakimera. Betty Nabagibwa runs a canteen and is requesting a loan of UGX 400,000 to increase the canteen stock. Saida Kabanda sells irish potatoes and is requesting a loan of UGX 500,000 to start sellling a greater variety of foodstuffs. Annet Nalule operates a public pay phone and is requesting a loan of UGX 400,000 to purchase more airtime cards. Jane Nakimera sells matooke (plantain) and is requesting a loan of UGX 50,000 to increase stock.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
