Kossi Joseph KOTSI was born in Davéli-Tsévié in 1973. The son of peasants, he used to spend all his time with his father in the fields, which prevented him from continuing his education beyond the 5th grade. Benefitting from the support of his village, he was able to learn woodturning. With an initial loan of $550 that he repaid in regular installments, he was able to open his own workshop, which he named «Aimons la Vie», that is, Let’s Love Life. Very energetic and of good conscience, he extended the reach of his business into certain villages near Tsévié. He is married and the father of three children. His wife got training in hairdressing with his help and support. An honest man, Joseph can be trusted, and he has efficiently mastered his business.

Mr. KOTSI is requesting a loan of $1,500 which in part will serve to buy a new machine and to pay for boards. It will also serve to open a hairdressing salon for his wife. The will allow his wife to help with household expenses in order to better ensure the welfare of the entire family.

Mr. Kotsi's business is doing great!

Entrepreneur: Kossi Joseph Kotsi
Location: Tsévié, Togo

Mr. Kotsi is doing great! He purchased two new woodworking machines with his loan from Kiva, and now has three apprentices working for him. With a machine for each worker, he is able to rapidly fulfill his client's orders. Right now is the rainy season in Togo, so he has many orders. He said he used to sleep at the shop because he simply didn't have enough time to get all the work done. He is now significantly more productive, and able to spend time with each of his apprentices... and even go home to sleep at night!

He thanks Kiva lenders for the loan, and looks forward to continuing his work and further expanding his business with another loan.
