Lidia, Zonia, and Graciela have been part of the community bank “Virgen Maria” for 9, 9, and 13 years respectively.
In their community bank they have learned to be punctual, to save, to be responsible, how to educate their children, and how to have a healthy relationship with their husbands. They mentioned that in their community bank they feel like sisters.

Lidia is 34 years old and is married with five children. She has been selling, grains, animals, cheeses, and potatoes for nine years. She buys these things in the different open markets around the area and sells them in Ayacucho.

Zonia is 48 years old and is single. She travels to the market in the town of Putacca on Thursdays to buy grains and animals. She then sells these products in Ayacucho; she has been doing this for nine years. Zonia has also been raising animals for sale in the market.

On the other hand, Graciela sells meat and grains in the Magdalena market. She also sells, out of her house, products that she buys at the markets. In the past she sold food from the market in Pampa Cangallo market but had to start a new business when her husband changed jobs.

Lidia, Zonia, and Graciela need loans of 1200, 1200, and 400 soles (3 soles = $1), which they will invest in buying potatoes, peas, habas (a local legume), cheese, pork, corn and wheat, and food for their animals.

They plan to use their savings to educate their children, improve their homes, and pay for medical care.
Lidia dreams of having a house and more savings, while Zonia dreams of having land to cultivate and a house. Graciela dreams that her children will be professionals, and that she will have the capital to start another business.
