Mambo from Mbozi, Tanzania and from SELFINA! Thank you for your loan through Kiva to Ruth Sanga, a SELFINA client and micro-entrepreneur. The purpose of this journal is to update you on Ruth and the status of her business.

As you know, your generosity helped Ruth obtain a loan of $450USD in February 2008. She is running a grocery and crops business business and used the loan to purchase maize, beans, rice, soap, cooking oil, and soft drinks in bulk for her business.

She works at her business for 12 hours per day, 6 days per week. Since she took out the loan, her business has been doing well and Ruth’s monthly profits have increased from about $40 to approximately $100. She has used these extra profits to successfully repay her loan as well as paying school fees for her children, she made improvement to her house, and bought better food for her family.

In the future, she is planning to request a loan of $2000 from SELFINA with which she plans to expand her business by increasing number and varieties of items compared to the present items in her business. On the personal front, her family is doing well. She is married and has 5 children. Ruth dreams about being able to continue to send her children to schol. SELFINA aims to continue to assist Ruth!and other women like her, and empower them towards financial security and increased confidence through microloans. Thank you very much for supporting Ruth!
