Khen Samuon is married and lives with her husband and 4 children, 3 boys and 1 daughter, in a small wooden house in Phnom Penh suburbs. She has been working in sewing factories for 7 years, while her husband is self-employed as a moto taxi. Ken Samuon is not very confident about her future but her desire is to support her son to succeed in life.

With the $1000 she requested from CREDIT, Samuon wants to allow her elder son to open a motorbike workshop in Phnom Penh City. She is borrowing for buying the tools, materials and spare parts required for such a business. The family as already found a place for rent for about $60 monthly and the owner has accepted to let them use the premises for free for a one month test period. Khen Samuon and her husband are willing to pay the first monthly installments with their own salaries but they are eventually expecting a daily income of 20,000 Riels, about $5, from the workshop, which will be enough to cover the interest and the reimbursement of the loan and generate a substantial income.

Loan Paid In Full

Entrepreneur: Khem Samoun
Location: Phnom Penh City, Cambodia

Khem Samuon's son was able to obtain a spot in a school where he is able to learn more about motorbike repair which will greatly help him be better prepared to succeed in that business. They believe that in the future the business will be successful in a different location. Therefore, Khem Samuon used the loan to expand her own business, to purchase a motorbike for her children to go to school and work, and to purchase a cow. In addition to working in a garment factory, Khem Samoun sells clothing to other garment workers outside of the factory. She used $100 to purchase additional clothing to expand her business of selling clothing in front of the garment factory. She used $600 to purchase the motorbike, which allows her son to go to school to learn how to repair motorbikes, and helps transport her other children to work. She purchased the cow for $300. She said that the loan has greatly helped her family, as she has been able to get increased income from expanding her business and purchasing a cow, and she is very excited about her son being able to study more about repairing motorbikes. Khem Samuon's dream for the future is that she will be able to help her son open his motorbike repair shop. She is very confident that he will be able to be successful in this business.
