Maoulou Bae is 57 years old, has three children, and lives with her husband in Selmar. She has been selling pounded cassava, or “placali”, and palm nut soup with dry meat or fish. This has been appreciated by the Ivorian people as a typical breakfast food in the morning. She began her business in 1982, and since then has used her money to support the education of her three children. One of her children are at the university, while the other two are in high school. When she received her first loan, the additional money helped her expand and grow her business and to pay for many of the school fees and house expenses. She has since then done very well, and would like an additional loan to help her purchase and maintain a shop.
