Hak Sophan

Sambour Village, Dangkar Commune, Dangkar District, just outside of Phnom Penh




Hak Sophan is living and working with her husband and 4 children in the suburbs of Phnom Penh city. Her business is to cook and sell food to the workers around the the nearby factories. Each member of the family is involved in this activity: Hak Sophan gets up at 1am and goes to the fish and seafood market, and then comes back home and start cooking rice, shrimp, fish, soups, dry and fried vegetables. Her husband brings their children to the factories on their motorbike for 9am, which is the morning break for sewing factory worker and they start selling. At home, Hak Sophan is still cooking to provide fresh food to the worker for their afternoon break at 3:30pm.



This loan of $700 will allow Sophan and her family to improve their living condition by repairing their house. They will buy materials and perform the reparation by themselves, in addition to their casual workload. Sometimes does Hak Sophan feel very tired, I want to start another business, she said, but she does not know what she should do.



This is the first time Hak Sophan takes a loan with CREDIT but her neighbors are old clients and introduce her to CREDIT staff.
