Like another metal shop we visited the other day, Haji Nayeem’s old metal buy and sell business is going splendidly well. Haji is 60 and father of five children. He received 50,000 Afghani ($1,000) Kiva loan. He reported he's paid 8 timely full installments.

The Haji has a large business with a personal investment of $10,000. He stated that the loan money was a “small” amount compared to his much bigger business. He used the loan money mainly for making an urgent business payment at a point he did not have cash in hand. He had heard about Ariana Financial Services through a radio ad. He received the funds in two days after his loan application.

The entrepreneur has four similar shops, three of them side by side, and his business is going very well. He has 6 workers who walk around in the area in search of old metal scraps including, metal debris from demolished houses, empty soda cans from the restaurants, and bronze and aluminum wires and pieces. All his transactions are in cash. Larger companies then pick up these supplies and export them to Pakistan.

Haji’s 3 young sons work in Moscow and they too send him (for the family) money periodically.
