Lagi Aliifaalogo is a widow with seven children. Her husband died some years ago and she is still fighting for her children’s future. She has had no job and she is now joining the SPBD programme for help.

This is her first loan and her plan is to start up a pancake business, together with her existing plantation. She is from the village of Saoluafata where a secondary school is located, and she is planning to sell pancakes at this school for more money. Lagi is striving to the limit to make sure her children will have a better education and be successful in the future.

Lagi Aliifaalogo is 55 years old and has 7 children. She is a member of Saoluafata B center which is located in Western Upolu. She has plantation business, which she has been engaged in for 4 years. The loan officer who is in charge of her center says Lagi is a very good member. She repays her loan on time, always attends her weekly meetings, and is enthusiastic about expanding her business.

She has used her previous loan to purchase plantsrayer,knives, chemicals for her business. She says her business is doing well. On good days she makes 750 Tala a day (1Tala=0.4USD) and on bad days she makes 550 Tala a day. She also says that the Kiva loans and SPBD loans are not only helping her business grow, but also helping her pay her children’s school fees, feed her family better, and improve her housing.

When asked if she has any words to the Kiva lenders, she said “Lagi is a good member of this centre, she is also a honest member in terms of repaying the loan on time and has a very good attendance”.
