Journal Update.

Entrepreneur: Va Kim Srean
Location: Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia

Va Kim Srean is an old widow woman and resides with her only one daughter in Kampong Cham province. Before Mrs. Va and her daughter work together on the farmland but now her daughter has another work, selling porridge in a village.

Mrs. Va first heard about Credit’s low interest from a loan officer who visited her village. She decided to ask for a loan because the interest rate of 2.5% per month is not very high and CREDIT provides a long loan term that she can afford. She took out a loan of US$700 to purchase seed and pigs to expand her livestock, but she changed her mind when she received the money. Instead, she purchases a motorbike. She told a loan officer that a motorbike is very useful as following. First, it helps transfer her daughter stuffs like chairs, tables and porridge to sell at the market. Second, Mrs. Va sometime use this motorbike to transfer rice from her field to her house. She said, even this motorbike make no profit but it is very use full for her family. Mrs. Va and her daughter has been saved to repair her house.

Finally, she would like to say thanks to all lenders for interest helping Cambodian entrepreneurs like her family.
